Because of the fact that women seem more image-conscious today than most men, it was inevitable that women’s physical fitness become at least as wide-spread and popular as men’s.
In the past –for some odd reason – it was believed that women shouldn’t perform any physical activities. Just about the only thing physical activity meant back then, was labor, and women belonging to high social classes figured it would’ve been a blow to their femininity to do something only peasants would perform.
Nowadays however, that woeful misconception is no longer a problem. Another – just about as erroneous – mistake most women make when it comes to fitness is that they avoid training with weights.
The feminine ideal is a delicate shapely physique, and they figure that by doing “manly” exercises they would turn too muscular to fit that ideal. That is why most women stick to aerobics and yoga-type exercises.
Both those types of workouts are great, however, with a little bit of weight training put in besides, the results would be much more spectacular.
A regular woman (without the input of steroids and testosterone based products) will NEVER gain the muscularity an average male is able to achieve. There is no threat of becoming too masculine. The lack of testosterone (or rather its presence in very small amounts) will make any significant muscle-gains impossible.
